Location : Storm's room
Description : Past is the past, don't let it overwhelm you
" Nah, I mean, it's Storm." Bobby shrugged his shoulders, granted, he hadn't really seen her but still, didn't seem like the sort of thing she'd mind.
Rogue followed in silence, unsure of what to say to him. This was all new for her and very uncomfortable. "So...how
have you been?"
" Mostly sore, but yeah, okay. A lot better than everyone else." He paused by a door and pushed it open, sandalwood instantly flooded his sense, that was Storm for you," You?"
Rogue steps into Storm's room and sets her bag on the bed. "I've been...fine. Just glad it's over now. Why did you come back?"
Bobby's eyes dropped to the floor, arms moving to slide across his chest," I couldn't continue pretending to be something I wasn't and I couldn't stand by and watch anymore. I came back to help, make things better, make up for what I didn't do." His voice was riddled with guilt and had a hint of sadness.
"What you didn't do? Bobby, you can't blame yourself for any of that. It's no one's fault."
" I should have been there Rogue, maybe I could have helped.." He trailed off, swallowing hard," Instead, I ran home."
She shook her head, her eyes intently fixed on him. "There was nothing anyone could have done. We've all made mistakes, Bobby. But no one died because of you. Don't think that for a second."
Bobby lifted his eyes to rest on Rogue's face," ..Yeah.." He didn't seem convinced but it was nice she was trying, he walked over, taking a gloved hand in his own, pressing a kiss to the back of her hand," Get some sleep, okay?" With that, he released his hold on her hand, offered her a smile and back up a few paces.
"Bobby...please don't go. We don't have to talk about anything if you don't want to. It's just that...well, I've been alone for the last year. Unless you have something to do."
Bobby paused for a moment, turning to look back over his shoulder at Rogue," I haven't got anything to do." He shut the door and walked back into the room slightly," Just figured you might not want me around all that much."
"It is a little weird, but I don't hate you. We can figure stuff out tomorrow. But tonight, maybe you can just be here?"
He nodded his head," Sure, of course. Where do you want me?" He asked with a hint of a smile, before running a hand through his hair.
Rogue smirked and patted the bed next to her. "Lay down. I want to make sure Scott's patchwork is holding up."
" It's Scott. Mr I pay attention to detail like it's my job guy." Bobby smirked but he did as she said.
Rogue laughed slightly and lifted Bobby's shirt. "Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking. He's got more first aid experience than me." She pulls his shirt back down. "Well, Mr. Drake, I'm afraid the prognosis isn't good."
" Really now?" He arched an eyebrow," What's wrong with me? Am I going to die?" He asked in a mock dramatic voice.
Rogue nodded dramatically, her face deadly serious. "I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, but...well, you're full of ice and you've only got 60 years to live."
" Well damn!" Bobby exclaimed, feigning shock, followed by disappoinment and melancholy," Alas, my life is over." He flopped back onto the bed, slinging his arm across his forehead and letting out a dramatic breath.
Rogue giggled and laid down next to him, staring up at the ceiling. "I forgot what this felt like," she admitted. "Did you miss me, Bobby? Did you think about me? Did you look for me?"
Bobby turned his head, peeking out from under his arm," Of course I missed and thought about you Rogue, how could I not?" He swallowed for a moment," I rang the school several times, you know, before everything but I wussed out when I heard your voice on the other end of the line."
"I thought that was you. No one else ever called me." She sighed and looked over at him. "I'm sorry things didn't work out with your family. They didn't seem like the most understanding family. Especially your brother."
He shrugged," Yeah, it sucks but, it happens, I guess." Bobby sighed softly," Anyways, I'm back with my other family as it is and this one takes me for me."
Rogue smiled slightly and nodded. "After all, without the ice, you'd just be Man. And that name isn't cool at all." She turned onto her side and propped her head up on her hand. "Did you meet anyone...you know, like a girlfriend?"
" Nope, not cool at all." He shifted to look at her, leaning up onto his elbow, making sure to keep off his injured side," No girlfriend, but I did meet a woman called Wanda and reunited with Jubes but definitely no girlfriend. Have you uh... met anyone, you know, like a boyfriend?"
Rogue lowered her eyes and shook her head. "No. No one would want to be with me once they realized they die if they touch me. It's a bit of an inconvenience. I know you remember."
" Yeah.." He agreed before he snatched up her gloved hand and pressed another kiss to the material." But you're you, so to do something like that." He meant the kiss to her hand," Is more than enough." He let her hand go and smiled, resting back into the bed,
What he said brought a beaming smile to Rogue's face. "You're one in a million, Bobby. You really are. But it's not fair to you. I realized that after you left. You deserve more than that."
Bobby smiled almost shyly at her words, a light blush came to his cheeks, before he turned to look at her," You're too sweet to me, you know? Most girls would be wanting to rip my organs out and feeding them to me."
"Well, I wasn't so calm and understanding a year ago." She flipped over onto her stomach and looked over at him. "And I've had a lot of time to think over the last year. I know why you did what you did. A part of me wishes I could do the same."
Bobby nodded his head, offering her a smile," Yeah, who would have thought we'd end up here..like this, in this place huh?"
Rogue shook her head and smiled. "Not me. Not in a million years." She rested her head on her pillow and yawned. "I could really use a shower and a seven course meal, but I'm too tired."
Bobby looked to her before he shifted so he was lying down beside her, he then offered," You can use me as a pillow if you really want. You don't have to but I offer pillow services to you, for the night." He shrugged his shoulders, how dumb did he sound right now?
Rogue lifted her head and looked over at him. "That would be nice," she admitted as she slid closer to him. She slid a blanket up over his upper arm and shoulder to be sure her skin wouldn't touch his, and she rested her head against his chest. "What does all this mean, Bobby?"
Bobby tucked his arm around her, he had never been scared to touch her and he showed the same lack of fear this time," Hm Rogue?" He wasn't sure if she was asking about the world or them at this particular moment.
She could feel herself blushing. "Never mind. I don't know what I mean." She lifted her head and gave him a quick peck on the cheek. "Thanks, Bobby. I missed you."
Bobby blinked a little before he simply smiled," Missed you too, Rogue, now get some sleep." He chided gently, before he leaned his own head back, thinking over everything before he let his eyes shut.
"Ok," Rogue answered softly. She rested her head against Bobby's chest, listening to his strong heart beat and her eyes slowly closed.
